Bruthen Blues and Arts Festival
Bruthen Blues and Arts Festival is an annual music event celebrating Blues music, community, the arts, and showcasing the diversity of the Bruthen Community.
Bruthen Blues and Arts Festival is a volunteer-run annual music event led by the Bruthen Arts and Events Council. It has a long history, celebrating blues music, community, the arts, and also showcases the diversity of the Bruthen Community. The musical performers are a mix of local and regional acts plus well known Australian and International musicians.
The festival brings direct economic and social benefits to this small rural community and towns in the surrounding District.
Bruthen and District were heavily impacted by the summer of 19/20 bushfires with a lot of houses being lost in the adjacent Sarsfield area. Bruthen and District residents were also advised to evacuate on several occasions.
The thick smoke and threat of fires resulted in the District being closed to visitors for about a month. The 2020 Blues Festival was canceled due to the risk of heavy smoke and bushfires.
The unresolved complexities and restrictions associated with the Covid 19 pandemic in 2020 and 2021 led the festival organisers to reluctantly cancel the 2021 event.
The Bruthen Arts and Events Council is planning to be back in February 2022 for a full-on celebration of the 25th Bruthen Blues and Arts Festival with accessible, quality music and arts activities.
