About the work

After losing another part of my hearing and gaining constant tinnitus, I am struggling to find a home in my body.

The intersections of my disabilities reshape the way I encounter the sonic experience. I mourn silence. I miss a silent recovery from chaos and pain.

I am struggling to make my body accessible to itself with its conflicting needs. I spend hours practicing how to program my body to hold a conversation in a busy space.

Cohabit is an offering of my sonic and sensory experience when both ‘ordinary’ or activated spaces feel inaccessible.

Cohabit is a selection of mostly phone recordings. Samples were taken from sounds or environments that were physically uncomfortable or unsustainable. A beat was made out of these samples.
