Writers Victoria - Border Stories Podcast Series

Border Stories is a new podcast series told by people living with disabilities.

Duration
35 minutes

This episode features Cathy Townsend and Tully Zygier.

Cathy Townsend is a recognized thought leader on disability inclusion and rights with deep knowledge about how disability intersects with the most pressing issues of our time, such as racial and gender justice, sexuality, and criminal justice. Cathy combines her personal disability experience with a wealth of professional expertise to build disability cultural competence, connect disability to broader social justice issues, and help organizations and their staff understand more about the disability community.

Tully Zygier (BA BSW) works in Communications at VALID, one of the peak advocacy organisations for people with intellectual disabilities in Victoria. Tully was born with Familial Dysautonomia, a neurological condition carried in the recessive gene in Ashkenazi Jews. Tully uses a walking frame and recently purchased a motorised scooter through the NDIS. Tully enjoys movies, seeing her friends and family, cooking and writing.

Border Stories is a podcast, a partnership between Writers Victoria's Write-ability Program and VALiD (Victorian Advocacy League for Individuals with Disability), featuring stories told by people living with disabilities.
