Duration

For Aus Music Month we're meeting people behind the scenes of our music industry.

Tim Everist runs the online store Soundmerch ,  producing high-quality merchandise for artists right here in Melbourne, and forging a reputation as a leader in Australian music merchandise.

Soundmerch is the leading location to pick up merch and music from our artists and more!

What local act are you listening to at the moment?

" The Avalanches , I just got an advance stream of the new record dropping in December…It’s amazing!"

What local band or artist will you be wearing for Aus Music T-Shirt Day?

"Melbourne’s own King Gizzard and Lizard Wizard ‘ Asheville’ design, by local legend Jason Galea ."

Where is your favourite local venue to see live music in Victoria?

"I love The Forum Theatre with a shiraz in my hand. That grand old theatre with a classic-sized stage in the CBD is the perfect spacious venue to take it all in.

Weather depending….shows at Sidney Myer Music Bowl are also always pretty epic."

What is it about the Victorian music scene that sets us apart from the rest of Australia?

"There has always been a strong collective of creatives churning out awe-inspiring work for the world to suck in. It’s a healthy scene where people are always lending a hand to others.

Everything cross-pollinates. Stemming from the music producers, there’s record labels, artist managers, clip directors, graphic designers, festival promoters, sticky carpet venues, booze brewers, food creators, eager entrepreneurs, and of course, the merch makers! Just one big scene and everyone plays a part!"

How do you predict we'll enjoy music in the future?

"Hopefully back in a pub, like The Tote, Corner, Northcote Social club , John Curtain, Bar Open, Nighthawks or Labour in Vain very soon!"

Soundmerch recently partnered with The Australian Music Prize (The AMP) , an industry award highlighting the best albums in Australian contemporary music, with a prize of $20,000.

You can check out the Soundmerch online store to continue supporting local bands and artists.
