Frog breeding season occurs each year in Spring. This is when frogs are the most active and you will hear their calls at local wetlands and around water holes.

Mallee CMA needs your help to capture important data through the FrogID app. The app is used to capture the sounds or calls of the frogs before sending the recordings to be analysed by scientists and forms part of the important scientific data used to track frog populations around the state and Australia wide.

Mallee CMA adds data collected at local wetlands to the appropriate Environmental Water Management Plan.

The data is used to measure our success against the frog habitat protection objectives in our Environmental Water Management Plans we have for Kings Billabong, Cowanna Billabong, and other sites.

Get involved

Community members can take a photo of themselves (and family) while visiting the wetlands and post it to social media (tagging the Mallee CMA via Facebook or Instagram).
