Tuned In

A series produced by the youth of CMY, sharing their connections with sport and mental health.

2 minutes

I am Ejaz Hussain and I am 19 years old.

I came to Australia from a very small city called Quetta. When I came to Australia I was not able to speak English. After many years, finally I can read, write and speak English. Throughout these years of my life I have found out that I am really passionate about video and photography.

It has been two years since I started working as a videographer and photographer. Using these skills that I have I am always trying to help people as much as I can.

My Guitar

When I play this guitar, it makes me feel better. I mostly play guitar when i'm with my friends. I believe that music connects people from all over the world. It brings people together.

I don't have a favourite guitarist or musician. I believe that every artist has something special and different within them, and we should appreciate all their work.

Canon Camera

When I came to Australia I had no friends. This Canon Camera became my friend and since then I have always kept it with me. My favourite subject in photography is portrait photography. Through portraits I feel like I can tell people's stories. I love taking stories of refugees because they have so many stories to tell.

Throughout my journey of photography I have only ever used this Canon camera. I'm so used to it now and I hope to continue my photography journey with it.

My Desk

I spend a lot of time at my desk, I do most of my photo and video editing from here. I even eat at my desk. You might wonder why I have chosen these three objects to talk about. These three things are very special to me, and I am connected to each of them. No matter how touch life becomes these three things make me feel calm and safe.

I wanted to tell people how my hobbies and interests have brought me closer to my community.  I hope that I can help to show people how they too can share their stories and build connections in their community.

Thanks for reading,

Ejaz Hussain
